Drop off/Pick up
Drop off and pick up takes place at the glass doors under the awning. A teacher will be at the doors to let students in 10 minutes prior to class time. Pick up at the end of class will be at the same location. For students safety, it is important to remain in your car until you have pulled under the awning. If you would like to walk up to drop off or pick up please park in one of the parking spaces and use the sidewalk to reach the glass doors..
Front Doors
Our doors are always locked for safety reasons. There is a doorbell under the awning for you to ring if you come to the building during class time. You may need to ring the bell several times for us to hear it while class is in session.
Communication
We have an account with Remind which is a safe and easy way for us to communicate with parents. It is a message-based service that allows you to register your phone to receive and send messages. Let us know if you have any questions or issues setting this up.
We may also be reached by phone (317)868-8881 or by email [email protected]. We are on Facebook and try to post photos of what we are up to on a day-to-day basis. You may also find additional information on our website learnalotprek.weebly.com
Supplies
The only supply students need for class is a backpack. It needs to be large enough to fit an 8 ½ x 11 folder. We will provide a folder to each student. We will work on students being able to put their own take home items in their folder. Accidents do happen so please keep a change of clothes in your child's backpack.
Star Student
Each student will have an opportunity to be the Star Student about once per month. These are very exciting days for the students. Star students are listed on our monthly calendar, so please check each month for your child's name. The following are the ways we celebrate your son/daughter when it's their day:
*They get to bring in and help pass out the snacks for the day.
*Line leader
*Flag holder
*Calendar helper
*Prayer leader
Facebook
We occasionally post photos of what we are doing in class on our Facebook page. If you would prefer your child’s photo not appear on our page, please let us know.
Snack Information
*Healthy is in! (Fresh fruit and veggies, snack crackers, pretzels, goldfish, veggie straws, gogurt, natural fruit snacks are a few examples)
*Also please provide a drink such as water, juice, milk.
*Sweet snacks may be brought in for birthday snacks.
Parties
We will have a party for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter. The Pre-K and Preschool class will join together for these parties. Families of students are welcome to come to any of these parties. If we need supplies or treats for the party a sign up will be sent out using signupgenius.com.
Field Trips
We go on at least two field trips a year; one in the fall and one in the spring. Volunteer drivers and chaperones will be needed. When permission slips are sent home, you may indicate on them if you are able to join us. We make every effort to send home information on these trips a month in advance to give families time to make arrangements.
Bad Weather
We follow Franklin School systems schedule regarding closings and delays. If they are on a two hour delay we will be on a one hour delay. If they close for weather we will also. We will communicate these delays and closings through our Remind messages and posts on our Facebook page.
Illness and Absences
*If your child has had a fever of 100 degrees or more or has vomited please keep them home until they are fever/puke free for 24 hours.
*If your child will not be absent for any reason please send us a message so we can plan accordingly and include them in our prayer time if needed.
Homework
We will send homework occasionally. We do want to develop good habits, but we don’t want to put time pressure on when a child should return a “homework” assignment at this age. Homework is always optional. It is only meant to provide additional practice if desired.
Discipline
Our school believes in using a Positive Behavior Support System in order to encourage children to make good choices in school and throughout life. We design our climate and schedule to foster a Christ like behavior. Our motto is “Listen and Obey”, so you may hear your child use this phrase at home.
Each student will have a sticker chart and be able to pick a prize from the treasure box when it’s full. These are the ways your child may earn stickers:
*Demonstrating good classroom behavior
*Turning in homework if/when assigned
*Memorizing their bible verse.
*When ”caught” doing a good deed
All Day Class
Students in the All Day class will need to bring their own lunch each day. We have a microwave and refrigerator if needed. We will have a few food items on hand in case you forget to pack their lunch. We will have a 20 minute rest period after lunch each day. If your child would like to bring a special blanket or stuffed animal that is fine.
Clothing
Our playground has pea gravel, so tennis shoes are the most comfortable footwear. In winter and when the air conditioner is running, the classroom can be cold so layers are a good idea. Also, keep in mind that we use things such as paint, glue, glitter, shaving cream and playdough. We can get messy while having fun learning!
Toys
It’s best to avoid sending in personal toys to class. It’s very easy for a toy to get lost or broken. We may ask your child to put their toys away in their backpack during class time. We will have a few special Show andTell days for students to bring in their toys.
Folder
We do utilize the take home folders to send home permission slips, notes and other information. Please check your child’s folder nightly so you don’t miss anything.
Turning Point Church
